Bjørin Barakson |
“Bjørin however is gifted in other area’s” as his mother used to say. Always a quick learner, he picked up the druidic ways from his father very early on. Not terribly bright, but a very quick learner who’s favorite quote is “Fool me once Shame on You, Fool me twice Shame on me!” Also his agility is astounding, maybe not as great as others in his family, but still greater then many of his Elvin friends. Bjørin was born on the day of the crow, a cold winter night. Outside the air was crisp and the stars twinkling, and inside Asgrad paced back and forth as the Elvin maiden Teayisriel worked her magic to mend Midrid’s wounds. Bjørin’s birth was a miricle, and Teayisriel spent hours praying over Midrid… and somehow saving her life. In honor they named the child “Bjørin” or Star of Wisdom (Taeyisriel = Star of Hope.) Of his family there is Midegal, the renowned ranger, Rovindale, the advisor to Baron Brunswick, Illias, a diviner who ended up marrying Lidigus (Taeysirum’s boy hood firend.), and Hamilkar a druid after his father. A brief note on his parents: Asgrad is an imposing, kind-hearted man. Standing at 6’5” and built like a brick shit-house, he is the high druid of the Northern Wood. In his blood flows the potent lineage of Reynir, and a hefty dose of it to boot. Once and adventurer he has settled down to tend to his lands, and help raise his bear’s cubs (his favored hobby.) Midrid was once a very powerful diviner, who was kidnapped by the evil prince Oofus in a land far from here. Asgrad saved her, and they immediately fell in love, got married and started a family. (this is the shortened version.) Now she helps her son Hamilkar instruct the wood-elves in the area, teaching them history, wood-lore, and magic. In her blood, to flows the lineage of Reynir… which explains why each of their children grew to become such powerful lords and ladies. Ok, so back on track. Their little family was a happy one. Of course it had its every day struggles and arguments, but all in all everyone grew up happy. Because of this each of them grew to become an idealist of sorts. Neutral in the true Druidic way, but always hopping for the better. Bjørin grew up a happy little bow, but had some birth defects due to his pre-mature birth. Always a little gaunt, he could never match up to his brother’s physical browse. So when they started playing tag he of course would loose, then after a while became one of the best tag players in the woods. You see, he used his wisdom (which he had in spades) to make up for his lack of physical prows. During the course of his early life he befriended Lidigus Treehugger, a demure but quick wood-elf. Together they used to romp through the woods, often hunting or playing other games. Now, the Treehuggers, contrary to their name, spend most their time cutting down young tree’s to create beautiful bows and arrows. So naturally Bjørin watched and learned, and would use his bow whenever he could. He could never beat Lidigus at the shooting range, but neither of them cared. They just had fun, and became true friends. For much of their early life they would adventure together, often helping those outside the wood with their goblin and orc problems. To the shock of all Lidigus fell in love with Illias and soon they were married with Bjørin as the best man. They now have three sons and a daughter on the way. But I digress. Also during this time he came under the tutelage of his parents. Both steadfast in making him into a great man like his other siblings. Yet he would have none of it, he hated the lime-light. Of course he learned what he was taught, and he loved it. More devote then any of his brothers; he loves Reynir with his mind, body and soul. Yet, he has never been one for power. Always preferring to stand in the shadow of greatness and help to preserve the beauty of the land. Soon after becoming a Druid he went to visit his cousin Andilos (whom he calls Andy) who is a member of the Druidic council. Now, Andilos just happens to also be a great herbalist. Bjørin found that he enjoyed herbalism immensely and soon became one of the best, following in his uncle’s foot-steps. Luckily though, he always kept his devotion to Reynir and never waived from the Druidic path. From him he learned all he needed, then came back and now lives a peaceful life, often helping his father with the cubs (who have cubs of their own now)… or hunting with Lidigus and Ronier (his dire-wolf companion.)
