Kallian Wesper

Kallian was raised in a well off and flourishing village of Celos in the open plains of south west Cerilia.  Kallian’s family helped in the growing of Celos since they were mostly merchants.  The Wesper family can be traced back several generations in Celos and most did follow the merchant path.  Wespers has always been long lived and rather healthy bunch, living into their 90s.

Kallian had it pretty easy as a childhood, learning bits & pieces of the family tradition and way gold flows through out the land.  During his younger years, Kallian spent most of his free time in the stables or in fields riding.  Not many of his family had a knack for the outside or riding, so his time was spent with the stable hands or servants.  One person that usually was with him was a senior servant’s daughter named Alyssa, whose family had been serving the Wespers as long as anyone can remember.   She & Kallian were pretty taught together and spent most of their free time together since Kallian didn’t have any siblings.  As time went on Kallian grew tired of the studying and more time in the fields, but Alyssa did not as she kept up her schooling.  Kallian kept seeing Alyssa lese and less.  Soon Kallian’s uncle Vardolon started to ride with him but Vardolon wasn’t a merchant like the rest of his family but a warrior.  Each an every time they would discuss some of the family business but it always ended with Vardolon telling a war story or combat tactics he learned.  Kallian was coming of age and didn’t wish to be drowned in the haggling and greed of the merchants.  So he decided to follow in his uncle’s footsteps as one of Celos’ militia.  Kallian’s father, Kilvar; was disappointed but let Kallian do as he pleased for now.

Once Kallian turned sixteen years of age he would spent the next two years training along side Vardolon before attempting to join the Celos’ militia.  During Kallian’s training, he learned many of the martial skills of a warrior along with some history and nobility of Cerilia.  Vardolon wasn’t tough on Kallian through his training, stressing that Kallian fight calmly and smart.  Kallian impressed Vardolon with his knack for tactics and talent with pole weapons.  Vardolon also talked to Kilvar about Kallian’s progress and eased the father’s bitterness towards his son.

Once Kallian finished his training with his uncle, he attempted to prove his worth when joining the militia.  Kallian pasted the militia requirements with ease and was promoted to sergeant rather than start out as a patrol man.  He had some help from his father by a small donation to the militia but Kallian never found out.

Kallian’s career as a sergeant for two years in the militia was noticeable and was promoted to an officer at the beginning of his third year.  He would fight his fair share of foul beasts and bandits, along with routine and mundane tasks as peacekeeping, tower duty and even documenting incidents.  His ethics and tactics were stellar, keeping a cool head in almost every situation.

At the beginning of the fourth year, a council of Deimed would gather in the Imperial City with other province’s councils. Kallian’s father and few other merchants would speak for Diemed on its behalf in the council.  Kallian wasn’t able to attend the council meeting because his superiors were going.  At this council meeting of Anuire, they wanted to help the people in the region of Rjurik and planned on sending an advanced occupying force to help and setup a settlement to refugees escaping from the wrath of the minions of the Shadow god.  During the meeting, each village represented would offer goods, men, gold or other services to help with this act of humanity.   Celos would put gold into the effort of this acquisition along with man power.  Kallian would be chosen (and some help from his father) as a lieutenant for a regent.

As Kallian prepared for his mission, he father gave him a two things special.  One was a set of family heirlooms, a suit of studded armor & buckler wrapped in a cloak that has been passed down through each generation and second was a companion, Alyssa.  Kallian was honored to be giving the heirloom but was even more surprised when his father showed him Alyssa.  His father left them alone for awhile and they just kind of stared at one another before Killian spoke.  He told her that he didn’t want her to come along because of the many dangerous that they would face.  She nods slightly and agreed somewhat.  As he continue to talk to her catching up a years missed, he told her that she would always have a place in his heart.  She wept a little at the soft nature of Kallian as he wiped her tears away.  As he started to depart she lunged forward to hug and whispered to him the same thing that he told her, they kissed one time and he departed of for the gathering outside of the Imperial City.
